On the points of good fellowship, the baker and the farmer agreed to exchange goods. The baker would receive from the farmer some butter in exchange for some bread. Some time passed by and he baker began weighting his pounds of butter and each weighed just a little bit less each time. The baker let it go on in this manner for awhile. Then he thought it would be an advantage to the farmer to bring him to task by requesting him to meet before a jury. The defendant came to court without any hesitancy. He was asked by the jury to give his reason for disregarding the standards of honesty. But the farmer bashfully smiled and said, "Well, when I weighed my butter, I balanced it by the loaf of bread I received from the baker."
